Today you find many blogs that capture the readers attention. If you are looking to start a blog and want to be successful at it you have to think outside the box and write about what your readers want to read. Here are 10 tips for writing a successful blog post.

1) Write for your audience - if you write about travel and you have a travel blog. Stick to travel. Don't venture off into the unknown scientific theory of why something isn't working. Don't write about your favorite movie. Stick to the topics of travel and your audience will appreciate your work.
2) Be creative - There are a million ways to write about Spain or New Orleans. Your adventure or outlook is different from someone else who wrote about it. Be genuine and express the adventure of the place or topic you are writing about and it will shine through your words.
3) Think outside the box - When everyone is writing about why something is something, you should take a different approach and make your audience think. For example; if your blog is about shopping deals, take a different approach to Black Friday deals. Write about the stores that are closed to keep family time special during the holiday season and mention a few stores that will be open the following day with similar deals.
4) Keep your style of writing the same - When you write for a blog, your audience tends to feel like they know you. They want to feel connected so don't change your style of writing from personal to impersonal. For example; if you typically write in first person, do it all the time.
5) Keep up with what's trending - If you can put a spin or twist to a blog post on a topic that is trending you can get a lot more attention. Covid is a topic that has been trending for over a year. If you can include that in your blog and hashtag it then, it keeps you relevant.

6) Use hashtags for your blog post - many people use hashtags on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, etc., but forget to do that with their blog post. Hashtags allow people who may not know about your blog to come across it and subscribe to it.
7) Include photos - people love to read blogs, but they love looking at photos even more. If you include photos of whatever you're writing about you will find more people will come back to your blog.
8) Write about things you actually like - it is easy to write about things you're passionate about. If you love food and can write an article about it in 5 minutes then that is your topic. If you hate history, don't write a blog post about history. You will find yourself stuck trying to figure out the words because it isn't something you're passionate about.
9) Give examples - When you can provide your readers with examples of what you are talking about it allows them to think about your topic like you are thinking about your topic.
10) Be optimistic - You never know who will come across your blog post. It can be the day you post it or years later. Write it like The New York Times is posting it. Put your best foot forward and hope that your readers and anyone who comes across it will benefit from what you're writing.
As an article writer it took me a while to grasp the tone I wanted and the audience I was aiming for. Now it is easy to create content for the topics I choose to write about. I hope these tips easy some writing wows for you.
