We no longer produce a quarterly magazine. You will only find our blog stories online.
As the new year begins, you want to feel more energized, focused and driven. Well you know the saying.....you are what you eat. When you eat unhealthy or foods full of sugar, fats and carbs, you can feel great in the moment, but you soon crash, or feel bloated and even unexplainably irritable. That is because you aren't feeding your body what it needs to produce the energy it requires to keep going. Here are 6 foods to give you energy.

#1 Fruit: Bananas, apples, berries, oranges and grapefruit. You can have these in the morning for a boost of energy or in the afternoon when you need a "pick me up". These fruits have health benefits as well as energy boosters.
#2 Oatmeal: Eating oatmeal in the morning will create an all day energy boost. According to WebMD, It takes a while for oatmeal to digest so you get an evenly supply of energy instead of all at once. One bowl will keep you going for hours.
#3 Beans: Any kinds of beans are a great way to produce energy. This is a great option for vegans as well. They slow digestion and allow for more energy to be provided. They are healthy for you and create more cell growth.
#4 Water: This no calorie, sugar, carbs, etc drink believe it or not gives you energy. When you are dehydrated you will get tired. Drinking water throughout the day can help you gain energy and stay hydrated, especially in the summer months and while working out.
#5 Salmon: Salmon contains omega-3 fatty acids that benefit cardiovascular health and if cooked properly taste great. It is enriched with vitamin B so it provides leveled energy. If you have it for lunch it can help you get through the rest of your day feeling energized and refreshed.
#6 Green vegetables: green beans, broccoli, spinach, edamame, etc. Many green vegetables are high in fiber, protein and have healthy fat that are great for slow digestion, great for energy and nutrition.
Having energy to get through the day allows you to feel driven, motivated and you get more accomplished. By changing a few snacks or how you eat breakfast and lunch can change your life. Let's be real....before doing the research on this blog, I had no idea water would give me energy. Knowing is 1/2 the battle. This is the first post of the new year and so I wanted it to be positive and educational. Let's make this year healthy and happy. Another fabulous meal to share with you wonderful people. Happy Eating.
HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!!!
