A to Z Christmas Travel Tips

This holiday season many people will travel around the world to see family and friends that they haven’t had a chance to see majority of the year. Thanksgiving and Christmas are the most traveled holidays. Christmas can be a little more tricky because people expect packages to be presents and contain new or expensive products. Here are some Christmas travel tips to keep in mind while traveling this holiday season.



A. Keep your belongings close to you while traveling

B. Keep an eye out for suspicious behavior

C. Don’t leave your wallet sitting on the counter

D. Wait to make sure your luggage is on the conveyor belt before walking away from checkin

E. Avoid using your debit card if at all possible - use a credit card instead

F. Never leave your car running while you go inside a place

G. If traveling with presents package them so they don’t look like presents to others

H. Keep your children close to you

I. Pay attention to those being too helpful (offering to carry bags, etc.)

J. If you can ship your gifts instead of traveling with them

K. Check smaller, less busy airports to travel from

L. Travel during off peak times - early in the morning or late at night

M. Buy round trip tickets - you don’t want to find flights home being totally booked or unavailable

N. If using ride sharing for travel, be sure not to split the travel with anyone you don’t know

O. Adjust your attitiude to slow mode - traveling during Christmas can be overwhelming

P. Leave for the airport with plenty of time for traffic, airport delays, etc.

Q. Try to get direct flights so if your original flight is delayed it doesn’t make you miss a future flight

R. Use your membership rewards to get points for future flights

S. If you have travel issues a lot, purchase travel insurance to avoid loosing money

T. Take advantage of holiday sales

U. If you can get away with a carry on try that - save time on delayed bags

V. Make sure all your electrical devices are fully charged

W. If driving out of town, have separate travel directions available in case one way is out due to weather

X. Don’t tell anyone your going out of town until you return - avoid break-ins

Y. Have a staycation and rent a larger home in town to have all your family

Z. Trust your travel instincts and avoid being taken advantage of
