Crab N Spice - Glendale

A seafood spot in Glendale that opened July 2021 that everyone is comparing to Angry Crab or Hot N Juicy. We learned they have other locations in California and recently opened a new location in Glendale, Arizona. After lunch this afternoon we decided to write a piece to contribute to the fast growing Arizona area. Crab N' Spice has many similarities to Angry Crab and Hot N' Juicy, but they also have their own flare on seafood.

The food purchased by the pound comes in a plastic bag, just like Hot N' Juicy. You can choose your sides and add-ons to go in the bag. They serve alcoholic beverages as well as Pepsi products. They have many less expensive items to choose from, however; they also have the upscale seafood items, such as crab legs and lobster tail that are a little more pricy.

The atmosphere is amazing. They offer a private room, which works well for birthdays and other occasions. The decor brings the place to life. Overall, this place has both Angry Crab and Hot n Juicy beat on decor. It feels comfortable and new.

Pricing on the food was similar to many seafood places. You can't expect to go to a seafood place that offers crab legs and lobster tail and expect to pay like you're eating at McDonalds. If you want to save a bit you can order the Captain's Choice for $39.99 which includes a one lobster tail, 1/2 pound of snow crab, 2 pieces of either corn or potatoes, and a 1/2 pound of sausage. This is an amazing deal for this package. You determine what sauce and spice level.

If you want to go cheaper you can get a seafood plate for $16.50, that includes, a foundation drink, rice, coleslaw or macaroni salad and your choice of 8 shrimp, 14 clams, 10 mussels or 2 haddock. This is not a typical seafood selection with this price at many Arizona seafood restaurants.

Crab N' Spice is a great addition to the seafood selection in Glendale. The staff was friendly and welcoming. They were attentive and pleasant. As a new company in a new location they will have critics that will compare them to many seafood places.

The food itself was average. The Hawaiian flavor lacked a bit of taste. The food was fresh and plentiful, but the flavor didn't capture the tastebuds. They have other flavors we will have to try to make a final "taste" decision. We did the same thing for Angry Crab as we didn't have a great first experience with choices from their menu.

Overall, this is an amazing place with great decor and friendly staff. Depending on what type of seafood you like will depend on how you enjoy the food. Some like spicy (as do I) and the Hawaiian wasn't spicy. Some like mild and others are seafood condensers that can enjoy any flavor, seasoning and spice.
