How Do You Know You're In Love?

This article is from our print magazine issued July 1st 2022. To order a copy of the magazine please do so here.

Being in love and being loved is the “relationship goal” for many people. You want to be in a committed, loving, caring and fruitful relationship. You want people to desire the same things as you and share life experiences together. You want to feel like you’ve never felt before (in a great way).

Falling in love can be exhilarating and new. It can seem like you are transforming into a completely new person and you love it. So, how do you know if you’re in love?

When you are in love, that is different than loving someone. You can love your dog, parents, friends, but in love is a different type of love.

Infatuation: Being in love means you have an infatuation with this person.

You want to be with them all the time. You adore the time you spend together. When you are apart you want to talk, text or video chat with each other. You don’t mind staying home and spending time together. You feel as if you think about them all the time.

Happiness: You are genially happy. You smile more. You’re excited to do things together. You talk about them to friends/family a lot. You are a better version of yourself. Little things that used to bother you seem to dim when the other person is around.

Excitement: You are excited to see them, feel them and hear them. Your attitude adjust to pure nervousness or happiness when you are around them. You turn into this sweet, caring person. You enjoy all the activities you do together no matter how big or small.

Sexual Attraction: You try to look your best for this person and for yourself. You pay more attention to how you dress, do your hair and appear. You can’t keep your hands off this person. You see them and feel getty.

You want to spend all day with them. Learning who they are and vice versa. You feel exciting, new, refreshed and enjoy the little things. You can take a trip to the grocery store and feel like you made a new connection, just by agreeing on the same soda.

When you’re in love you accept the person as a whole. You accept the good with the bad. You are allowing them to be them, while growing and learning more about yourself. Being in love is something that can happen over time or over night. When you know, you just know. Being in love is a part of life. You don’t necessarily get to choose who you fall in love with. Sometimes, it happens when you least expect it. So happy to share this with you loving folks. Keep loving & living.
