Advertising your book is the best way to get it out in the hands of your readers. If no one knows the book is available, how can they purchase it. There are a lot of ways to advertise your book. Some cost money, but these tips are the FREE ways to advertise your book. Here are 5 free advertising tips:
1) Social Media - In today's society everyone uses social media. They have at least one outlet such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Linked-In, SnapChat, etc. Use these social media platforms to tell people about your book and your story. Don't just post the book, tell people about your book and engage them with questions. Make it so they are intrigued and want to read the book.
2) Word Of Mouth - This is the oldest sells tactic in the book. When people like something they tell other people about it. Make sure you get friends, family, etc to tell others about your book. This is the best way to advertise. They can share it on their social media.
3) Use the big name book stores - Barnes and Noble is the best known book store so if you publish your book with them use their name in hashtags, post and advertising. People like familiar things and if you tell them where your book is published they will buy it if it is at a reputable place. There are other books stores like Amazon, Changing Hands, etc.
4) The Power of Free - Give a book away if someone agrees to tell others or have someone else purchase the book. A lot of new authors have to get creative when selling their books. This is great way for you to allow the power of free to work for you. Most places like cell phone companies, use this tactic. You get a free phone if you sign up for a two year plan. This ties people into something and they do it because they get something FREE.
5) Set up a launch or book signing - When you have an event people wonder who you are, what you're doing and how did you get to that point. Throw a book launch at a book store, coffee shop or private location. Have a lot of books and advertise this event with friends, family and on social media. You may get people who don't know you show up. The best way to advertise this is on Eventbrite. It is free and people can purchase tickets ahead of time. Even if you don't charge for people to come they will get a free ticket and that will let you know how many people plan to attend.
