One of the many things I teach people when writing their books is that there are many things you can do for free. Publishing your book is one of those FREE things. In today's world there are so many avenues to explore when publishing your book. Who do you go with? Why do you go with them? How do you get your foot in the door? This blog post is going to explain some of the publishing issues and tell you how you can publish your book for free.

Here are three FREE ways to publish your book.
1) Barnes & Noble - After you have completed your book and the cover, you can upload it to B&N for free. You will not have to pay out of pocket for any book publishing, but you will have to pay once people order the book. How this works is you set a price with B&N for the book and once someone orders it they will deduct the print price from your order. For example, if you make your book $20, then B&N will charge $5 to print and $4 to ship. That leaves you with $11 profit. You don't initially spend anything. The reason I like this is because many people do not have $2500 to give a publishing company to print and promote their book. You can also order copies for yourself at a cheaper price. So you may be able to order your own books for $8. Saving you more money all around.
2) Amazon - Yes, Amazon has a publishing company as well. They call it Kindle Direct Publishing. Amazon does about the same thing B&N does except your books will be on all the Kindle stores worldwide. You also get about 70% royalties. Once you are done with your book and cover, you can submit it to Amazon and in about 24-48 hours be selling your book. You don't have to put any money up front.
3) The Book Patch - They aren't as well known as the previous two book printing companies, but they have been around for years. They allow you to upload your book, create a cover or upload a cover and sell your book right from their website or order your books and sell them yourself. The Book Patch is a print on demand self-publishing company. If you don't have money to buy your books to sell them, then you upload them here and let others buy without spending any money.
One thing I like about B&N is you can pre-sale your book. One think I like about Amazon is a lot of people shop Amazon so they can come across your book by accident. One thing I like about The Book Patch is they offer a lot of new authors options and help. All of these websites are easy to use and reliable. No matter which one you use, it is free. The self-publishing craze has opened up and people are writing books all over the world. You don't have to spend thousands of dollars trying to get your book noticed anymore. Helpful tips, tricks and ideas to help you write your story- Happy Writing!
FYI: The Elevator Ride was published by AuthorHouse Publishing, Married Women; From girls to women was published by The Book Patch, A journey of life's emotions was published by The Book Patch and The Elevator Ride 2 was published by Barnes & Noble. All are available on B&N now.
