As the year begins everyone starts looking for ways to improve their existence and health. Not that this isn’t something we should be doing all year long, but for some reason the beginning of the year makes us feel like we have a fresh start. We typically say we will stop doing something bad for us, such as smoking or eating junk food. We then reiterate to ourselves that we need to do more of something, such as working out or eating healthier. Here are 5 personal growth tips that will help you start or stop what you need to through out the year.

1. Focus on what is positive and not what is negative. We tend to put a lot of focus on the negative, therefore we think about it more and it creates this cavity in our mind. When we do this we dwell on it and as we think about things our actions follow. For example, instead of focusing on not smoking, focus on eating healthier. Look up better meals, how to prepare them and what will allow your body to transition eating these foods. Don’t waste time thinking about smoking because all you will want to do is smoke. Stay focused on the positive changes and things you want to do and your actions will comply.

2. Meditate on your decisions before making them. We want to make changes and start doing so without considering all the other things that will change in our lives. Take a few days and meditate on your decisions to have a clear path on how and why you want to change. This goes for any decision you’re considering. When you feel good about how things will work you can start making changes without doubt and fear.

3. Stop hanging around unsupportive/negative people. In order to build anything in your life, love, relationships, personal growth, business, career, parenting skills, etc. You need positive and helpful people in your life. Keeping negative and unsupportive people in your life can be draining and hurtful. Not everyone will cheer for your accomplishments, but you don’t want people around who will be negative towards them. If you find yourself explaining your goals and the person you’re telling them to is discouraging, its time to let them loose If you find that people don’t genuinely like you, let them go. Stop wasting time with people who will not help you get to the next level or even cheer you on as you get there.

4. Know your worth. You are a person who can accomplish anything you put your mind too. Experiments have been done on why successful people are successful and truth be told they are no different than you or I. They are dedicated to their craft and never gave up on it. The universe is listening and when you tell it you are worthy it will listen and grant you the success, love, hope and anything else you want. Don’t be afraid to tell yourself daily that you are worth everything you desire.

5. Be true to yourself. When you know what you want to do with your life do it. You are the only person who can determine happiness in your life. Building a life takes a lot of small pieces that have to come together and create a whole piece. There is love, career, financial, emotional, and mental pieces that have to be combined to create the total package you present. If one of those pieces is incomplete you can feel unstable. Not everything lines up perfectly, but be true to yourself and what you want. Everyones white picket fence story isn’t yours. If you don’t want kids, don’t have them. If you don’t want to be married don’t get married. Your story is yours to tell so make sure your life is written how you want it to be. Always be true to yourself and you will be happy and healthy.

Grow, live, and change the world. Keep growing and inspiring.
