Top 7 Museums To Visit In ATL

If you ever get a chance to visit Georgia, you must take a trip to ATL and visit some of the most exquisite museums in the state. From upscale millionaire homes to trap houses prior rappers use to divulge in. Learn history and have fun doing it. Here are 7 must explore museums:

1) Atlanta History Center - Here you will find 33 acres of historic houses, farming and exhibits. One of my favorite exhibits was the actual Swan House. This house was built in 1928, during the end of the Jazz age, by Mr. Edward and Mrs. Emily Inman. After only 3 years Mr. Inman passed away and Mrs. Inman moved her family in the house. When she became elder, she asked her two adult boys if they wanted the house and they said no. So, she reached out to the city and they purchased the home and the surrounding acres for $500,000, which is valued at over a billion dollars today. Walk through this mansion, (yes you can walk through the entire house), and see a piece of history elite living quarters.

2) Trap House Museum - This is a museum created by the rapper T.I. It shows rap artist in a different form. A trap house form. Trap house is a place were people, specifically in this case rappers, have a place to sell drugs from. It shows a life before being successful in the music career. The music, dress style, jewelry style, and more. They have an in house bar and a bbq truck outside.

3) Madam CJ Walker Museum - This small and eclectic museum allows you to learn history on music, salon business and one of the richest black women of the early 1900's, Sarah Breedlove, aka Madam CJ Walker. This museum was actually a beauty salon owned and operated by Mrs. Madam CJ Walker. See the actual hair styling equipment that was used, how things started and more. You can also learn about WERD studio, the first black radio station.

4) National Center For Civil And Human Rights Museum - This museum opened in 2014 to inspire people of all nationalities to look for change so there are human rights for everyone. The exhibits feature real papers and forms from people such as, Martin Luther King JR, trying to influence others to change the world. It show cases the movement of the civil rights movement that still is being struggled with today.

5) Martin Luther Kings JR National Historic Site - Here you can take a guided tour of Martin Luther King JR's birth home, the Ebenezer church where the wreath ceremony for MLK was performed and more. Take a trip in the past and learn more about MLK.

6) The King Center - Right next to the National Historic Site for MLK is the King Center. Here you will find the remains of Dr. Martin Luther King and Mrs. Coretta Scott King. According to the website, "In 1968, after he was assassinated, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was carried upon a farm wagon drawn by mules to Southview Cemetery. In 1970, Dr. King’s remains were removed from Southview Cemetery to what is the current King Center campus, and in 2006 his crypt was rebuilt to also include the remains of Mrs. Coretta Scott King. Dr. & Mrs. King’s crypt is constructed of Georgia marble, a timeless acknowledgment of his southern roots.

7) World Of Coca Cola - In this extra large museum you will find a movie theater that shows a commercial of how they get customers for Coca Cola, Coca Cola memorabilia that was once used in commercials, and tons of Coca Cola flavors from different countries. Learn how Coca Cola got started.
